Dale was saying “Come on Mother, Lets Go”. Lorraine E. Hanson was born June 14, 1924 on the family farm near Ruthven, Iowa, and was the daughter of Lucille and Jesse (Kramer) Monk. She grew up on the farm and graduated from Ruthven High School in 1941. Following high school she worked as a bookkeeper. Lorraine married her high school sweet heart, Dale M. Hanson, on June 4, 1946 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Des Moines, IA. Lorraine and Dale lived in Sheldon from 1947 – 1956. The couple moved to Carroll in 1956 where they became active members of the community. Lorraine was a homemaker and later worked at General Electric in the early 70’s until her retirement. Lorraine moved to Edgewater Life Community in 2015. Lorraine loved to travel. She and Dale traveled to all 50 states except two. She also enjoyed her “Lady Friends” and their bus trips, especially to the casino. She loved to shop. If she had one of something, she likely had twelve. Jayne would always say “Do you need that?” Mother would say “No, but I want it, and I’m buying it” and then we would all laugh. Mother loved baseball, especially her beloved Cardinals. She watched every game. She knew as much about baseball and the players as anyone. If the Cardinals weren’t on, she watched another team. Lorraine was dedicated to her three children: Sheryl Miller (John) of Windsor Heights, IA, Jayne Hanson (Barry Kohnke) of Carroll, and Rod Hanson (Wendy) of West Des Moines, IA; her grandchildren: Lt. Col. (Army) John P. Miller III (Mollie) of Ft. Drum, NY, Matthew L. Miller (Sarah) of Johnston, IA, Mandy Cooper (Ken) of Waukee, IA, Stefanie Hoevelkamp (Lt. Col.
