Jacob "Jake" M. Taggart

Jacob “Jake” M. Taggart, age 25, of Scranton, Iowa, passed away on Friday, May 3, 2013 in an auto accident near Grand Junction. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at the First United Methodist Church in Scranton with Pastor Bill Wenig of Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church in Des Moines officiating. Friends may call at the First United Methodist in Scranton after 4:00 P.M. on Monday where there will be a prayer service held at 6:30 P.M.. Visitation will resume at the church at 8:30 A.M. on Tuesday until the time of service. Casket bearers will be Montana Taggart, Jared Taggart, Mani Jubell, Kyler Kiner, Sean Wilson, Travis Hardin, and Josiah Hoyt. Burial will be in the Scranton Township Cemetery. Born on June 6, 1987 at Jefferson, Iowa, he was the son of William and Debra (Dudley) Taggart. He grew up in Scranton and graduated from Jefferson – Scranton High School in 2006. He was a state qualifier for the wrestling team and was a line backer and running back on the football team. Following high school he worked as a professional welder for several years before attending Iowa Central Community College in Ft. Dodge where he was currently enrolled in the diesel mechanic program. Jake enjoyed bull riding, driving in demolition derbies, stock car racing, fishing, hunting, working on cars and engines, his dog Skipper and he had just begun raising coon hounds with his Dad. Jake is survived by his parents William and Debra Taggart of Scranton; three brothers: Montana Taggart and his wife Emily of Jefferson, Jared Taggart and his girlfriend Laura Tweed both of Ames, and Mani Jubell of Scranton; Jake’s girlfriend Heidi Kiner of Grand Junction; his paternal grandparents Leon and Donna Taggart of Scranton; a nephew Cody Taggart; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, and many good friends. Jake was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Maurice and Lorraine Dudley, his aunt Kristine Hoyt, and three cousins Ashley, Grace, and Charlotte.
