Zachary Robert Stork

Zachary R. Stork, age 28, of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and formerly of Glidden, IA passed away on Friday, April 14, 2017 in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, April 21, 2017 at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church in Glidden, Iowa with Fr. Andrew Hoffmann as Celebrant assisted by Deacon Gary Schon. Lector for the mass will be Blake Stork. Gift bearers will be Keri Bauer, Brooke Quigley, Heidi Lensch. Casket bearers will be Sawyer Gregory, Ryan Quigley, Mitchell Borkowski, Jeremiah Johnson, Seth Johnson, and Brendan Prescott. Burial will be in Merle Hay Memorial Cemetery in Glidden, IA. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden after 5:00 P.M. on Thursday where there will be a Christian Wake Service held at 7:00 P.M. The casket will be moved to St. Elizabeth Seton Church at 9:30 A.M. on Friday where visitation will resume until the time of Mass. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden and online condolences may be left for Zach’s family at www.dahnandwoodhouse.com Born on July 24, 1988 in Carroll, IA, Zachary was the son of Lee and Vicki (Gregory) Stork. He attended Glidden-Ralston Community School where he graduated in May 2007. A talented athlete, Zachary was team captain of the 2005 Iowa State Football Champion team for division 8-Player. He was awarded 1st Team All State and All Conference Running Back. Zachary was also awarded 1st Team All-Conference in basketball and was a 4x1 state qualifier in track. After moving to Florida in 2014, Zachary completed his A.D. in Liberal Arts from Kirkwood Community College. In 2016, he enrolled at Broward College and was pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management with an expected completion date of May 2018. Zachary loved being with family and friends, especially near the beach. Zachary enjoyed boating, playing cards, fishing, and enjoying new types of food. His heart-warming presence will be deeply missed. Zachary was known for his humility, sense of humor, charismatic personality, and his selfless acts of kindness for others. He was an incredible teammate, friend, brother, son, and uncle. Survivors include: his mother, Vicki Stork of Des Moines, IA; his three siblings and their families: Samantha Schneider (Joel) of Austin, TX; Bridget Rosburg (Doug) of Leawood, KS; Melissa Rudd (Travis) of Erie, CO; and his maternal grandparents: Robert and Mary Ann Gregory of Ralston; his paternal grandmother Charlene Stork of Glidden; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Zachary was preceded in death by father Lee C. Stork in 2012 and grandfather Loras J. Stork in 1997.
