Winifred M. Conley, age 98, of Carroll, Iowa, passed away on Monday, December 28, 2009 at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll. Born on June 8, 1911 at Carroll, Iowa, she was the daughter of Elmer M. and Matilda (Schumacher) Hanby. Winifred was a lifelong resident of Carroll. She graduated from Carroll High School and then attended Frances Shimer Prep School in Mount Carroll, Illinois. She was married to James Conley on November 11, 1915 at Carroll. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Carroll. She has been a resident at the Carroll Health Center since May of 2004. Surviving her is one nephew William H. Martens of Oro Valley, Arizona. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters: Bernadine Hanby and Marjorie Martens, and a brother Lorimer A. Hanby. Winifred M. Martens of Oro Valley, Arizona. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters: Bernadine Hanby and Marjorie Martens, and a brother Lorimer A. Hanby. According to Winifred’s wishes no services will be held.
