William "Bill" B. Mccarville

William “Bill” McCarville, age 81, of Carroll, passed away on Friday, October 27, 2017 at St. Anthony Nursing Home in Carroll. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, October 31, 2017 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll with Fr. Kevin Richter as Celebrant. Music will be by the Holy Spirit Choir with Barb McDermott as organist. Lector for the Mass will be Cristin Eichenberger. Gift bearers will be Bill’s children: Dean, Jeff, Kelly, and Beth. Casket bearers will be Cory McCarville, Colby McCarville, Dan McCarville, Shane Eichenberger, Nick Chia and Paul Espenhover. Burial will be in the Carroll City Cemetery. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home after 5:00 P.M. on Monday where there will be a Christian Wake Service held at 6:30 P.M. The casket will be moved to the church at 9:30 A.M. on Tuesday, where visitation will resume until the time of the Mass. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll and online condolences may be left for Bill’s family at www.dahnandwoodhouse.com William (Bill) Benjamin McCarville was born on July 4th, 1936 in Carroll, he was the son of Cliff and Verna (Graney) McCarville. Bill attended the Carroll Community School system, graduating High School in 1955. He married Bernice Kitt on August 16, 1958 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Dedham and they were blessed with 46 years of marriage, and four children. They enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends. Travel locations included Europe, Hawaii, China, and the Caribbean, as well as wintering in Arizona. Bill lost his beautiful wife Bernice in 2004, after a long illness. Bill married Ann Marie Carruthers in 2006, and they enjoyed four years together before her passing in 2010. Bill started out in the car business in 1955, where he worked for his father, Cliff, at McCoy Motors, and later at McCarville & Son Motors. They sold new cars (Pontiacs), as well as used cars and trucks of many makes and models. In the early 70’s, he bought the dealership from his father Cliff and continued selling used cars and trucks, as well as new cars (American Motors Corporation). All totaled, he was in the car business for more than 55 years. For many years, Bill and his father Cliff co-hosted a Sunday morning KCIM radio show called “Cliff’s Car-tunes”. On the show, they gave shout-outs to countless Carroll area residents for birthdays, weddings, anniversaries and other special occasions, while also showcasing vehicle inventory on the car lot. In the early 80’s, Bill ventured into the trucking industry where he managed a small fleet of semi’s and drivers up until 2005. Bill had a true appreciation for antique cars and trucks, and loved watching NASCAR races. He was a member of the Iowa Auto Dealers Association, National Automobile Association, Moose Lodge and the Elks Club, and was a Volunteer at the Carroll Fire Department for many years. Bill is survived by his four children, Dean and his wife Deb of Shell Knob, MO, Jeff and his wife, Nancy, of Carroll, Kelly and his wife, Cindy, of Troy IL, and Beth (Chia) and her husband, Nick, of West Des Moines. Also surviving are 9 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren; Bill’s in-laws: Elvira Kitt of Templeton, Arlene and Dave Sisam of Cumming, IA, Cleo and Trellis Kitt of Sac City, Norma Kraus of Jefferson, Ray and Diane Kitt of Dedham and Jim and Aggie Kitt of Dedham. Bill was preceded in death by his parents (Cliff and Verna), his wife and mother of their children (Bernice), a second wife (Ann), and a grandson (Tommy McCarville).
