Wayne Seaman, age 86, of Carroll, IA, passed away on Tuesday, August 12, 2025 at his home in Carroll.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, August 18, 2025 at the Glidden Presbyterian Church with Rev. Angelo Luis officiating. Music will be by Marlys Conner. Casket bearers will be Daryl Seaman, Landry Seaman, Bredyn Seaman, Zachary Seaman, Dave Klocke and Keith Danner. Honorary casket bearers will be Rachel Seaman, Brynn Seaman, Bree Seaman, Brylee Seaman, Bailey Seaman, and Belle Seaman. Burial will be in the Merle Hay Memorial Cemetery near Glidden.
Visitation will be held at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll from 2 – 4:30 P.M. on Sunday. The casket will be moved to the Glidden Presbyterian Church at 9:30 A.M. on Monday where visitation will resume until 10:15 A.M. prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Glidden, Iowa or St. Anthony Foundation in Carroll, Iowa.

Wayne was born September 26, 1938 to George and Lorrene Seaman. Wayne was joined in this family by three brothers and three sisters. The family lived on a farm south of Scranton. Wayne attended school at Scranton Consolidated School graduating in 1956. On December 3, 1956, Wayne began his career at West Central Cooperative in Ralston as a feed sacker. He continued his employment at West Central for the next 43 years. The last thirty years as Chief Executive Officer. His passion was West Central.
In 1961, Wayne enlisted in the 133rd Iowa Air National Guard in Ft. Dodge. He received his basic training at Lackland Air Base in San Antonio, TX. He served in the 133rd Air National Guard and the Air Force Reserve for the next six years and was honorably discharged in 1967,
On November 4, 1961, Wayne and Shirley (Renslow) from Grand Junction were married in the United Methodist Church in Grand Junction. They lived in Jefferson for the first two years of their marriage as they both worked. After being promoted to Vice President of West Central, the couple moved to Ralston, Iowa, where they lived until retirement in 2000. While living in Ralston, three boys were born to Shirley and Wayne: David, Darin & Derek. They supported the boys through their efforts in school, athletics, development in life and careers.
Following retirement from West Central, Wayne started Seaman Enterprises, a management and consulting business. The business would host board retreats, planning sessions, management training, developing vision, long-term strategies as well as being a keynote speaker. He operated Seaman Enterprises for eleven years as he traveled to various locations throughout the United States. During this time, Wayne also wrote a management article each month for Grain Journal, a National Magazine.
Wayne loved the business world and was selected to serve on the following boards of directors: Soy Cot Sales, Chicago, Illinois, United Services Association, Des Moines, Iowa, Ag Finance Corporation, Des Moines, CoBank in Denver, Colorado, Home State Bank, Jefferson, Iowa (28) years, St. Anthony Hospital and Nursing Home, plus the St. Anthony Foundation in Carroll (14) years. He was one of the original board members of New Hope Village and served his church on many boards and committees.
Wayne was presented with the award of Valor by Gov. Branstad in 1989 for the lifesaving gesture. In 2013, Wayne was selected as the Citizen of the Year by the Carroll Chamber of Commerce. Wayne served on the Ralston City Council for 35 years and was one of the original board members of the Carroll County Landfill.
Wayne was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Glidden for more than 50 years. He served the church as teacher, Deacon, and a ruling Elder. He served on four pulpit nominating committees, responsible for calling four pastors to serve the church. During the retirement years of his life, Wayne wrote monthly articles for the church newsletter. Wayne kept his faith based on the Holy Scriptures knowing that he fell short but was saved by a forgiving and loving God.
Wayne is survived by his wife, Shirley; three sons: David of Boone, Iowa, Darin (Shauna) of Sauk Rapids, MN, and Derek (Karri) of Muscatine, Iowa. Grandchildren: Zachary (Rachel), Landry, Brynn, Bailey, Bredyn, Bree, Brylee & Belle, brothers, Robert (Elaine), Wendell, a sister-in-law Phoebe Renslow, brother-in-law Duane Wahlstrom.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his parents-in-law, three sisters: Ruth Nelson (Don), Harriett Freeh (Jerry), Georgia Wahlstrom, one brother Harold (Eileen), sister-in-law Velma Martin (Darwin), and brother-in-law Don Renslow, a sister-in-law Paula Seaman and other friends and family.
