Mass of the Christian Burial for 67 year old Warren Maxwell of Glidden and formerly of Carroll will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, September 13, 2008 at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church in Glidden. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll after 2:30 P.M. on Friday where there will be a Rosary at 3P.M. and a Christian Wake Service at 6:45 P.M.. Burial will be in the Carroll City Cemetery with Military honors by the Glidden American Legion. Casket bearers will be Barney Brower, Bruce Gehling, Barry Snyder, Ray Snook, Dan Schaben, and Dick Tadsen. Born on April 19, 1941 at Baltimore, Maryland, he was the son of Warren Louis and Mary Lou (Justice) Maxwell Sr.. Warren grew up in Baltimore and graduated from Patterson High School. After high school he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served four years. He later served in the National Guard and the Iowa Reserves and was deployed during Desert Storm. He served more than 20 years in the military and was extremely proud of this. He was married to Lois Nees on December 19, 1971 at St. Paul, Minnesota. The couple lived in Carroll where he was employed by the City of Carroll for almost 20 years and worked at various jobs after his retirement, including the Carroll Today Newspaper. The couple moved to Glidden in 2004. He was a member of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church in Glidden, the Glidden American Legion, the VFW, and the Moose Lodge. He enjoyed watching TV, having an immaculate lawn, going to house sales, and having coffee with his friends in Carroll. Warren enjoyed visiting with everyone he met and everyone was his friend. He was always ready to help anyone in need. He was an avid coin collector and lived life to the fullest .…. Warren is survived by his wife Lois of Glidden; a sister-in-law Phyllis Kane and her husband Edward of St. Paul, Minnesota, and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and his mother and father-in-law George and Christine Nees.
