Wanda Lou Dingman Stephenson, 71, of Glidden, passed away on Thursday, July 15, 2010, at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, IA. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, July 17, 2010 at the First United Methodist Church in Glidden with Rev. Jessica Rockhold Gaul officiating. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden after 5:00 P.M. on Friday where there will be a prayer service held at 7:00 P.M. The casket will be moved to the church at 12:00 P.M. on Saturday to lie in state until the time of service. Music for the service will be by Mary Ross. Casket bearers will be Ken Dingman, Eric Hall, Robert Silkman, Alex Wright, Scott Dingman, and Tim Dingman. Burial will be in the Scranton Township Cemetery. Born on January 25, 1939, at home in Scranton, IA. She was the daughter of Robert Arden and Vera Mae (Bennett) Dingman. She graduated from Scranton High School in 1957, and attended Iowa Methodist School of Nursing, where she earned her Registered Nurses’ degree. She was married September 18, 1960 to Donald Harl Stephenson. Wanda was the Administrator at St. Anthony’s Nursing Home, where she worked for 42 years. Her main project for the nursing home was its renovation and the addition of the Alzheimer’s unit. Wanda belonged to Bridge Club, Entre Nous, was the President of the Library Board, was Financial Secretary at the Glidden United Methodist Church, was leader of R.S.V.P.’s Speak Up program at the Glidden Ralston school, and participated in the After School program. She enjoyed reading, cooking, gardening, playing games, & being with her family. Survivors are: Sisters - Marilyn Dingman, Elaine Dingman, Sharon Hall & her husband Roger of Davenport, IA, Debbie Wright and her husband, Lance of Glidden. Brothers are Lyle Dingman and his wife Joan of Towanda, KS, and Larry Dingman of Davenport, IA. Other survivors include Aunt Ernestine Bennett of Richmond, VA, plus several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and three brothers: Cecil Wayne, Richard, and Donald Dingman.
