Walter William Wright, age 89, of Carroll passed away on Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll.
Graveside services will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at the Carroll City Cemetery.
Born on December 6, 1922, at Atlantic, Iowa, he was the son of John and Jessie May (Earl) Wright. He grew up in Atlantic and at the age of 14 he left home and traveled the country on trains. He spent a lot of time on the west coast and worked for Boeing Aircraft. Walter was also an interior decorator and did painting and wallpapering. One of his big projects was the Dodge House in Council Bluffs. He was married to Opal Mae Wright on May 12, 1946. The couple lived in several cities before moving to Carroll in the late 1980’s. Walt enjoyed fishing, walking on the bike path from Swan Lake to Maple River, and going for long drives to sightsee.
Walter is survived by a son T.W. Wright and his wife Yvonne of Carroll; two sisters: Hazel Johnson of Exria and June Johnson of Council Bluffs; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife in 2011, four sisters: Ruth, Sis, Phyllis, and Mary, and two brothers: John and Jim.
