Walter Gordon Bennett

Walter Gordon Bennett, age 81, of Stanton, Iowa and formerly of Glidden, Iowa passed away at his home on May, 11, 2008. Born on November 11, 1926 at Glidden, Iowa he was the son of Frank and Flossie (Holliday) Bennett. He grew up in Glidden where he graduated from high school in 1944. He was married to Marian L. Dedrick on November 20, 1947 at the Methodist Church in Glidden. He was a self-employed barber from 1959 – 1995 in Council Bluffs, Scranton, and Guthrie Center. He also worked for U.S. Gypsum in Ft. Dodge. Surviving are a daughter Margaret “Peg” Bennett of Plattsmouth, Nebraska; a son Christopher Bennett of Orlando, Florida; and a special friend Pearl Anderson. He was preceded in death by his wife Marian in 1996 and brothers LeRoy and Joe. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 15, 2008 at 10:30 A.M. at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden with Pastor Bob McKnight of the Scranton Church of Christ officiating. Organist for the service will be Mrs. Laura McKnight. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden from 5 - 7 P.M. on Wednesday evening. Burial will be in the Merle Hay Memorial Cemetery near Glidden at a later date.
