Vivian Josephine Hulsing

Vivian Josephine (Neu) Hulsing, age 96, of Carroll passed away on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at her home in Carroll.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at St. John Paul II Parish – Holy Spirit Church in Carroll with Fr. Kevin Richter as Celebrant.  Lector for the Mass will be Tom Langle.  Gift bearers will be Hally Wuebben, Holly Houdeshell, and Katy Stovall.   Casket Bearers will be grandsons: Kevin Hulsing, Brian Hulsing, Cory Hulsing, Christopher Hulsing, Joby Baugh, and Colby Baugh.  An honor guard will be formed at the funeral Mass by the Catholic Daughters of the Americas.  Burial will be in Holy Angels Cemetery in Roselle.

Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll after 4:00 P.M. on Friday where there will be a Rosary at 500 P.M. and a Christian Wake Service at 6:30 P.M.  The casket will be moved to Holy Spirit Church at 9:30 A.M. on Saturday where visitation will resume until the time of Mass.  Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll and online condolences may be left for Vivian’s family at www.dahnandwoodhouse.com

Born on July 10, 1922 in Roselle, IA, Vivian was the daughter of Peter and Francis (Sporrer) Neu.  She grew up in Roselle and was married to Norbert Hulsing on August 20, 1946.  The couple made their home on a farm north of Carroll where they raised their six children.  Vivian was employed by Pamida in Carroll for many years.  She enjoyed playing euchre, dominos, sewing, cooking, baking, and spending time with her family.  She was a member of St. John Paul II Parish – Holy Spirit Church in Carroll and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas.  Vivian has made her home at Orchard View in Carroll for the past five years where she received excellent care and thoroughly enjoyed meeting with her friends at the puzzle table.

Vivian is survived by two sons: James Hulsing of Roselle and Darrell Hulsing and his wife Meridy of Arizona; two daughters: Patty Hulsing of Waukee and Sharon Hulsing of Carroll, a daughter-in-law Janice Hulsing of Roselle; a son-in-law Alan Stovall Lake of Tahoe, CA; eleven grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; two sisters: Edna Mae Wuebker of Arcadia and Patsy Berg and her husband Darrell of San Jose, CA; four brothers: Earl Neu and his wife Jeanne Turlock, CA, William Neu and his wife Jackie of San Jose, CA, LaVern Neu of Grass Valley, CA, and Kenneth Neu of Lincoln, CA; a sister-in-law Donna Neu of Santa Clara, CA.

Vivian was preceded in death by her parents Peter and Francis Neu; her mother and father-in-law Ben and Anna Hulsing; a brother Jerome Neu; a brother-in-law Paul Wuebker; a sister-in-law Arlene Neu; her son Robert Hulsing in 1991; her daughter Peggy Stovall in 2011; and her husband Norbert Hulsing in 2010.
