Virginia Claire Corson, age 86, of Coon Rapids passed away on Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll following a brief illness. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, October 31, 2015 at Annunciation Catholic Church in Coon Rapids with Fr. Andrew Hoffman as Celebrant. Visitation will be held at the church for one hour prior to the Mass. Music for the Mass will be by the Annunciation Choir with Faye Seidl as Organist. Lector for the Mass will be Rosemary Paulsen. Gift bearers will be her children: Christy and Richard. Pall bearers will be Virginia’s grandchildren. Burial will be in the Coon Rapids Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Coon Rapids. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.dahnandwoodhouse.com Born on February 20, 1929 in Carroll, she was the daughter of Paul and Wilda (Conner) Christy. She grew up in Oregon and was one of eleven children. Virginia graduated from high school in Portland, OR. Her family moved back to the Coon Rapids area where she worked as a switchboard operator and met the love of her life. She was married to Dean Corson on January 12, 1950 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Dedham. The couple made their home in Coon Rapids where Virginia was a stay at home Mom and did seasonal work for the Garst and Thomas Seed Company. She was an active member of Annunciation Catholic Church in Coon Rapids serving on the church guild. She was also a member of the Sew and Sew Club. Upon Dean’s retirement the couple moved to Bella Vista, Arkansas in 1992. Virginia returned to Coon Rapids in 2013 after Dean’s passing and made her home at Parkview Assisted Living. She enjoyed painting, sewing, and spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Virginia is survived by a daughter Christy McConnell and her husband Terry of Springdale, AR; a son Richard Corson and his wife Ann of Coon Rapids; a daughter-in-law Angie Corson of Coon Rapids; seven grandchildren: Jacob McConnell and his wife Jessica of Fayetteville, AR, Maggie McConnell of Bentonville, AR, Mandi Lucas and her husband Tommy of Ankeny, Jared Corson of Carroll, Paige Corson of Bayard, Cole Corson of Coon Rapids, and Garret Corson of Linden; three great grandchildren: Tanner and Olivia Lucas and Harrison McConnell; two sisters: Mary Clothier of Urbandale and Michelle Little and her husband Gaylen of Brownfield, TX; three brothers: Bob Christy and his wife Donna of Denver, CO, Dan Christy and his special friend Susan of Des Moines, and Jerry Christy and his wife Janice of Panama City, FL; two sisters-in-law: Nancy Christy of Des Moines and Nancy Christy of West Des Moines; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Dean, a son Jeff, three brothers: Patrick, Frank, and Larry Christy, a brother and sister in infancy, and a brother-in-law Gary Clothier.
