Virgil Lester Boell

Virgil Lester Boell Jr., age 77, of Carroll died Thursday, August 29, 2013, at Regency Park Nursing Home in Carroll. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 3, 2013, at 10:30 AM at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll, with Iowa Hospice Chaplain Rev. Mark Peterson Officiating. Interment will be in the Carroll City Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday, September 2, 2013, from 5 to 7 PM at the Dahn & Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll. Born on March 27, 1936 in Carroll, Iowa, he was the son of Virgil and Ida (Trafford) Boell. He grew up in Carroll and attended Carroll High School. Following high school he worked for several auto shops doing body work. He was married to Lorraine Snyder on April 15, 1955 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Arcadia. The couple raised their family in Carroll and Virgil worked at Crouse Cartage for 31 years managing the body shop. Virgil was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Carroll. Virgil enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and spending time with his grandchildren. Surviving are three sons: Mark Boell and his wife Deb of Carroll, Dan Boell of Carroll, and Scott Boell of Glidden; a sister Janice Mobley and her husband Jack of Sacramento, California; a brother Eugene Boell and his wife Diane of Lidderdale; three brothers-in-law: Al Snyder and his wife Charlene of Omaha, Nebraska, and Jack Snyder and his wife Bernice of Mason City, Iowa and Robert Snyder of Carroll. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Lorraine in 2012.
