Violet Weigel

Violet Weigel, age 87, of Carroll passed away on Friday, March 29, 2013 at the Carroll Health Center. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, April 1, 1013 at the First United Methodist Church in Carroll with Rev. Dennis Bailey officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:00 A.M. on Monday until the time of service. Organist for the service will be Mrs. Nancy Davis and Casket bearers will be Jim Drake, Joe Drake, John Drake, Randy Drake, Ben Halbur, and John Halbur. Burial will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Audubon. Born on September 7, 1925 at Audubon, Iowa, she was the daughter of Roderick and Sadie (Long) Drake. She grew up in Guthrie County and attended country school and Coon Rapids High School. She was married to Charles Weigel on February 14, 1950 in Carroll. In her younger years she cared for her younger siblings and later worked at the Carroll Health Center. Vi loved traveling and visiting with her neighbors. She also enjoyed visiting her sister Etta on her farm near Menlo. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Carroll. Vi is survived by several nieces and nephews, her family at the Carroll Health Center and many good friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four brothers: Joseph, George, Sam, and Roland Drake, and a sister Etta Dillinger.
