Vickie Lynn Rattenborg

Vickie Lynn Rattenborg, age 51, of Scranton and formerly of Carroll passed away on Monday, August 03, 2009 at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll. Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, August 6, 2009 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll with Rev. Timothy Johnson as Celebrant. Lector for the Mass will be Peg Leiting and Gift Bearers will be Amber Haberl, Breanna Haberl, and Taylor Haberl. Organist for the service will be Barb McDermott and the Holy Spirit Choir will sing. Friends may call at the Dahn & Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll after 2:30 P.M. on Wednesday where there will be a Rosary at 3:00 P.M. and a Christian Wake Service at 6:30 P.M.. The casket will be moved to the church at 12:30 P.M. on Wednesday to lie in state until the time of service. Burial will be in the Scranton Township Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Duane Voensh, Steve Johnston, Rich Schlichte, Mike Schlichte, Gordon Stork, and Mark Leiting. Born on March 2, 1958 at Carroll, Iowa, she was the daughter of Donald and Mary Ann (Bauer) Haberl. She grew up near Maple River and graduated from Carroll High School in 1976. She was married to Rodney Dean Rattenborg on December 11, 1976 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Maple River. The couple lived in Carroll from 1978 until 2007 when they moved to an acreage near Scranton. She was a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Scranton. In her spare time, Vickie enjoyed reading, sewing, gardening, and golfing, but, mostly, she enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Surviving are her husband Rodney Rattenborg of Scranton; her parents Don and Mary Ann Haberl of Maple River; a son Ryan Rattenborg and wife Allison of Peoria, Illinois; a daughter Stacie Hansen and her husband Joel of Atlantic, Iowa; four grandchildren: Jacob, Jonathan, Elizabeth, Katherine; and six brothers: Bob Haberl and his wife Lorraine of Rockwell City, Iowa, Doug Haberl and his wife Joyce of Carroll, Randy Haberl of Carroll, Tom Haberl of Breda, Scott Haberl of Moville, Iowa, and Stan Haberl and his wife Dani of Maple River. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, a sister-in-law Kris Haberl, and her father-in-law Robert Rattenborg.
