Valerie Anne Hanford

Valerie Anne Hanford, 62, of Sioux City, Iowa passed away on September 17, 2023. Valerie passed away after navigating several years of health complications relating to COPD.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, September 22, 2023 at Calvary Cemetery in Sioux City, Iowa.

Valerie was born on September 21, 1960 in Sioux City, Iowa. Valerie grew up in Sioux City and graduated from West High School. She worked as a medical transcriptionist previously in her life. Valerie was a single mom who worked hard in raising her two children, Adam and Tyler. Valerie met her special companion, Terry, 15 years ago and lived with him for several years until moving into a nursing home in the last year.

Valerie loved all animals. She had an especially important connection with her former dog, Sophie. Valerie enjoyed watching cooking shows and eating her favorite foods when she had company. She was an avid fan of Hawkeye and Steeler football. Valerie had a charming sense of humor and was often joking around with friends and family.

Valerie is survived by her sons Adam Hernandez of Des Moines, Iowa and Tyler Garcia of Minneapolis, Minnesota; one grandson, Landon Carden; and her companion, Terry Booe of Sioux City, Iowa. Valerie is preceded in death by her dad, Arthur Hanford.
