Tony Lynn Hatting, age 46, of Scranton passed away Sunday, August 25, 2019 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.
Funeral services will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, August 29, 2019 at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden with Chaplain Angelo Luis officiating. Visitation will be held at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden from 5:00 P.M. on Thursday until the time of service. Burial will in St. Mary's Cemetery in Ashton, IA. Tony was born on March 5, 1973 to Erwin and Delores (King) Hatting in Spirit Lake, IA. He attended the Hartley Melvin Sanborn Elementary School until his family moved to the Hatting family farm near Ashton, Iowa. He then attended Sheldon Middle and High School where he graduated in 1992. During High School, Tony was able to take welding classes and receive his certification through Northwest Iowa Community College. Tony married Keri Van Beek in 1994 Sheldon, IA. They had two children, Whitnee and Brandon. During their marriage, Tony worked as a welder and fabricator in Sheldon and then, in Harlan. He later moved to Laurens and worked at Bobalee Hydraulics. On June 20, 2008 Tony was united in marriage to Cindy Sellman in Carroll, Iowa. They lived in Glidden and most recently, Tony resided in Scranton. He worked for Welding Innovations in Jefferson. Tony was outspoken, with a big smile and an even bigger personality. He had a feisty sense of humor and opinions that would sometimes get him in trouble. He enjoyed camping and fishing. He liked spending time with family and friends, whether it was talking around a campfire, grilling out, bowling, playing cards or a bad round of golf, working on cars or motorcycles, or simply helping others with projects. He enjoyed being in the kitchen and was a great cook, giving credit to his mom for passing on her skills in the kitchen. He also loved his grandchildren and would talk about them often. Tony is survived by his wife, Cindy Hatting of Glidden, IA; children, Whitnee and Brandon Statema of Rock Valley, IA; his father, Erwin Hatting of Sheldon, IA; twin brother, Terry (Dawn) Hatting of Hull, IA, sister Tanya (Phil) Fouss of Spencer, IA; half-brother, Walter Trimble of Pasco, Washington; step-children, Tasha (Marcus Brockman) Sellman of Carroll, IA, Cody Sellman of Carroll, IA, Michael Sellman of Glidden, IA; nephews, Dylan and Evan Hatting; nieces, Gabbi (Matt) Stewart and Frannie Barron; grandchildren Brayden, Wyatt, Brooklyn, Austin and Lily; along with numerous uncles, aunts, and cousins.
