Ted was born on April 28, 1923 to Clara G (Christiansen) and Christian Krogh in Shelby County, Iowa. He graduated from Manilla High School in 1940. Ted devoted his work career to audio visual contracting, initially building and operating drive-in movie theatres in Iowa and then as owner of Lane Audio Visual Company. Having bought the company from Carroll Lane in 1948, he was proud to have taught his son Jay the business, and together they operated the company until Ted's retirement in 1990. Ted served in the United States Army during WW II and saw combat in Europe with the 69th Tank Battalion of the 6th Armored Division of the 3rd Army and was awarded the Bronze Star for his service. It was the highlight of the latter part of his life to return to England and Europe to revisit several of the places where he was stationed during the war, and to visit the WW II Memorial in Washington, DC with the Honor Flight. Ted followed up his active military service by being a member of the Carroll Post of the American Legion for over 60 years. On December 16th, 1945, Ted married Lois L. Kroeger and they made their home in Carroll where they raised their four children. Ted enjoyed fishing and boating and together with Lois, made annual fishing trips to Canada. Ted and Lois and children spent summers at their cottage on Black Hawk Lake in Lake View, Iowa, where they also owned and operated the local A&W drive-in for 10 years. Golf was a favorite pastime of Ted's in retirement and he could often be seen on courses in Carroll, Sac City and Spring Lake. Ted was a proud member of the Carroll Chapter of Rotary International, where he served as Treasurer for many years. He became a Paul Harris Fellow in 1977 for outstanding service. Ted was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Carroll for over 60 years. Prior to moving to Kavanagh House in October 2014, Ted was happy to call Sunnybrook of Carroll his home. Ted's family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the Sunnybrook staff for their loving care and attention. The family will be forever grateful to Ted's granddaughter, Clare Nagl, for her devotion to Ted during the last years of his life. Ted was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Lois, and by his parents and stepmother. He is survived by his four children: one son, Jay and his wife Jane of Urbandale, three daughters, Jan and her husband John of San Rafael, California, Jeri and her husband Tony, of Cape Elizabeth, Maine, and Jill and her husband Michael of San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, 10 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and a half-brother Robert and his wife Louise, of Waterloo, Ia.
