Terry Murray, age 59, of Carroll, died unexpectedly at his home on Thursday, January 2, 2014. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 7, 2014, from 5 PM to 7 PM at Dahn & Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll, where Pastor David Schaal will lead a prayer at 6:30 PM. Terry Wayne Murray, son of Harold and Mary (Wesley) Murray, was born June 6, 1954, at Robinson, Illinois. He grew up at Robinson and graduated from Robinson High School in 1973. As a child he excelled at waterskiing, swim team and football. He received a scholarship for football to Simpson College of Indianola, Iowa. After he attended college, he moved with his friends to Okoboji where he met Marianne. On May 4, 1980, Terry was united in marriage with Marianne in Patterson, Iowa by Scott Grotwold. Three daughters were born to this union. Terry and Marianne enjoyed canoeing, outdoors, traveling and attending concerts. After moving between Iowa and Illinois, they settled in Carroll, Iowa. Terry was a sheet metal fabricator at EBI in Audubon for 20 years. In his spare time, he enjoyed riding his motorcycle, playing pool, playing Frisbee golf and spending time with his girls and grandson. Terry is survived by his wife Marianne Murray of Carroll; three daughters: Hannah and Jordann of Carroll, and Taylor Murray & Alex Green of Carroll; and his grandson Anthony of Carroll; his mother Mary Murray of Robinson, Illinois; his mother-in-law Donna Mast of Carroll; his sister-in-law Sherry Christensen and her daughter Alyssa of Atlantic. He was preceded in death by his father, Harold Murray. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that gifts be in the form of memorial donations to an education fund for Jordann Rae.
