Terry Lee Eslick at the age of 66 of Scranton, IA, passed away peacefully, after a brief illness, on Tuesday, October 25, 2022 at Unity Point Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa surrounded by his loving family.
A celebration of life will be held from 1-4pm on Saturday, November 5, 2022 at the Scranton Community Center, in Scranton, Iowa. A private burial will be held at a later date.
The Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Scranton assisted the family with arrangements.
Terry was born on October 18, 1956 in Fort Dodge, Iowa, and was the son of Donald and Donace Eslick. He grew up in Scranton, Iowa. After high school, Terry worked with his father as a mechanic. He later worked at Scranton Manufacturing for many years. Terry worked most recently at O’Reilly Auto Parts in Carroll, Iowa. Terry retired from O’Reilly Auto Parts in September 2021. In his younger years he was a member of the Scranton Fire Department. Terry had his own business that he ran for many years doing oil changes, and working on vehicles for customers. He loved going to his shop and sitting up there doing word searches, that is how he liked to start his days. Terry was united in marriage to Joan Ortner on October 9,1981 in Auburn. The couple made their home in Scranton.
Terry and Joan have two children, Mark and Rebecca. His kids were his life. He loved getting together as a family, and always loved going to family events and never missed one. Terry enjoyed watching NASCAR and going to races. He loved driving. Race cars, his motorcycle, and his truck were another home and he loved having passengers to talk with on the ride. If Terry didn’t know you when he entered the room, he did by the time you were leaving, he loved to talk to anyone!
Terry is survived by his wife Joan Eslick of Scranton; two children Mark Eslick (Drea Piper) of West Des Moines, and Rebecca (Jeffrey) Jackson of Auburn; two sisters Rachel (Glenn) Davis of Crestview, Florida and Doreen Harrison of Prospect Park, New Jersey; two brothers Vic Eslick of Gowrie and Dan (Karen) Eslick of Parkersburg, and many other extended family members and friends.
Terry is preceded in death by his parents Donald and Donace Eslick, two brothers Rick, and Mic.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be left with the family.
