Born on April 25th, 1954 in Carroll, IA, Su was the daughter of Harvey and Dorothy (Davis) Andersen. She grew up in rural Coon Rapids where she attended school as a girl. She graduated from Coon Rapids High School in 1972. Su attended DMACC and graduated with an associate’s degree. She worked in Des Moines for a brief time before returning to Coon Rapids. She married Dan Richardson on April 20th, 1974, at the First Christian Church in Coon Rapids. They just celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary. The couple made their home in the rural Glidden area for a few years, before moving to their forever home on the farm north of Coon Rapids. Su spent many years as an insurance agent for multiple companies and retired just a few months ago from her role at Community Insurance in Glidden. She was an active member of the First Christian Church in Coon Rapids. She was also a member of the Carrollton Heritage Club, and the Needle Club of Orange Township. She also spent several years on a bowling team and played a leadership role in the league. She enjoyed spending time with her family, and always made a point to attend her grandkids’ football, volleyball and softball games, track meets, and recitals. While she couldn’t bring herself to watch Braden’s races, she followed his results every week and covered him in prayer every time he was on the track. In the last year, she and Dan made many trips to the Grimes Menards as an excuse to visit their great-grandson, Baylor, getting in all the snuggles she could. She also enjoyed playing cards with family and friends, making blankets, cooking, and passing along the craft of making homemade noodles to her granddaughters.

On her 71st birthday, Su suffered severe injuries in a car accident on her way to Des Moines with Dan. After spending three weeks in various levels of intensive care at Mercy One, she succumbed to her injuries, surrounded by her family, on the morning of Saturday, May 17th.

Su is survived by her husband, Dan Richardson, children: Andrea (Rod) Richards of Madrid, Charlie Richardson of Carroll, and Lucas (Jamie) Richardson of Coon Rapids, grandchildren: Brittany Richards, Braden Richards, and Brooklyn Richards of Madrid, Remy Richardson of Carroll, Anthony Richardson of Iowa City, Madysen Richardson of Coon Rapids, great-grandchild, Baylor Krumm, her siblings Carol (Jim) Knobbe, Alan (Diane) Andersen, Christine (Philip) Wernsmann all of Coon Rapids, Kent (Laura) Andersen of Webster City, IA, Lisa (Tim) Lindaman of Hubbard, IA, and Mark Andersen of Des Moines, IA; and many nieces, nephews and good friends.

Su was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Dorothy Andersen, sister, Sonya Andersen, and her daughter, Melinda Jo Richardson.
