Susan Mary Feilmeier, age 75, of Carroll passed away on Sunday, May 24, 2020 at her home in Carroll.
A public graveside service will be held at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, May 30, 2020 with Fr. Kevin Richter officiating. Those in attendance at the cemetery are asked to abide by Covid-19 social distancing guidelines. Born on November 10, 1944 in Ft. Dodge, IA, she was the daughter of Bernard “B.J.” and Dorothy (Knippel) Murphy. She grew up in Carroll and graduated from Kuemper High School in 1962. She then attended College of St. Mary in Omaha where she received her nursing degree. Following college she returned to Carroll and worked as a nurse at various places over the years. Sue was married to Bernard Feilmeier and to this union three children were born: Mark, Joel “J.D.”, and Erin. She was an active member of St. Lawrence Parish where she served as organist for many years. Music was Sue’s passion and she played for many venues over the years including weddings, funerals, and church services. She was also involved in the Carroll Community Chorus, The Notables, All Strings Attached, and Holy Angels Choir. She was also a teacher of music and taught countless Carroll area students piano lessons in her home. She was an avid Kuemper Knights fan and enjoyed all sports. Sue loved to attend her children’s sporting events and was their loudest supporter. She also enjoyed playing cards and going on trips to the casinos.
Sue is survived by her children and their families: Mark Feilmeier (Lee) of Breda, IA, Joel “J.D.” Feilmeier (Stacie) of Clive, IA, and Erin Feilmeier (Matt DeGlopper) of Waukee, IA; seven grandchildren: Courtney Feilmeier (Scott Lorenzen) of Carroll, Bailey Feilmeier of Carroll, Trevor Feilmeier of Kings Bay, GA, Tate Hansman and Ofelia DeGlopper of Waukee, IA, and Jonah and Cody Feilmeier of Clive, IA; five great-grandchildren: Trey, Avah, Tessa, Tatum, and Tamryn; her sister Maureen “Reen” Rupiper (Jerry) of Roselle, IA; and several nieces and nephews.
Sue was preceded in death by her parents Bernard “B.J.” and Dorothy Murphy.
