Steve H. Weeks, age 55, of Carroll, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, December 12, 2010 at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll.
Mass of the Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, December 16, 2010 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll with Fr. Timothy Johnson as Celebrant. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll after 3:00 P.M. on Wednesday where there will be a Rosary at 3:30 P.M. and a Christian Wake Service at 7:00 P.M., by Holy Spirit Parish followed by a Moose Memorial Service. The casket will be moved to the Church at 8:30 A.M. on Thursday to lie in state until the time of service. Lector for the Mass will be Don Nepple. Eucharistic ministers will be Twilla Hoffman and Dale Weeks. Casket bearers will be Don Meiers, Dave Meiers, Charlie Hill, Dave Brock, John Vetter, and Steve Leiting. Honorary casket bearers will be Larry Sporrer, Landis Kraus, Larry Ruhde, Kevin Hoaglund, Erv Promes, Steve Morlan, Bob Pottebaum, Warren Knight, Dave Fisher, Brian Miller, Bruce Warnke, Dennis Johnston, Dick Simons, and Vern Schroeder. Born on April 20, 1955 at Lake City, Iowa, he was the son of Harold and Phyllis (Carlyle) Weeks. Steve graduated from Carroll High School in 1973. After high school he worked for the City of Carroll, the Carroll Water Department, and he served on the Carroll Volunteer Fire Department. He has been employed by Rotert Construction for the past 22 years. He was married to Janet Vetter on December 11, 1993 at their home. He was a member of the Catholic Church and the Moose Lodge. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, playing cards, camping, and spending time with friends and family. Steve always put the needs of others first. He was willing to lend a hand with construction jobs or fixing things whenever he could.
Surviving are his wife Janet Weeks of Carroll; his mother Phyllis Weeks of Glidden; a daughter Holly Hunter and her husband Justin of Ankeny; a grandson Maddox; three sisters: Peggy Bauer and her husband Joe of Audubon, Angie Weeks of Des Moines, Amy Thiel and her husband Tyrone of Ankeny; two brothers: Russ Weeks and his wife Linda of Manilla, and Terry Weeks and his wife Jodie of Ankeny; a sister-in-law Jo Ann Thomas and her husband Earl of Templeton; and a brother-in-law John Vetter and his wife Bernice of Arcadia. Steve was preceded in death by his father, a brother Mike Weeks, and a nephew Chris Weeks.
