Mass of the Christian burial for Stephen Joseph Wiederin of Ralston will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 7, 2008, at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church in Glidden.
Mr. Wiederin, 49, died Saturday, Aug. 2, at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll following a short illness.
The Rev. Thiedeman will preside at the Mass. Lector will be Gene Klocke. Eucharistic minister will be Ron "Woody" Beyer. Gift bearers will be Renee Stoffers, Chris Klocke, Kim Roberts, Wendi Behrens, Shannon Heisterkamp, Jennifer Reicks, Jessica Wiederin and Roxanne Richardson. Servers will be Ryan Scharfenkamp, Adam Scharfenkamp and Dan Scharfenkamp.
Casket bearers will be Josh Wiederin, Curt Kirsch, Cory Wiederin, Brad Kirsch, Russ Kirsch, Brian Stoffers, Shawn Wiederin and Jeff Wiederin. Honorary casket bearers will be Larry Wiederin, LouAnn Stoffers, Bob Wiederin, Gary Wiederin, Kathy Olson, Lynn Wiederin, Lois Beyer, LaVerne Wiederin, LaVonne Richardson and Mike Wiederin.
Burial will be in Merle Hay Memorial Cemetery at Glidden.
Visitation starts at 5 p.m. and a Christian wake service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden.
A son of Merle and Thelma (Huegerich) Wiederin, he was born June 23, 1959, at Carroll, attended Holy Spirit and St. Lawrence Catholic grade schools and graduated from Carroll High School in 1977.
He and Karlynn Heman were married Oct. 27, 1984, at St. Paul Catholic Church in Scranton with the Rev. O.W. Koester officiating.
Mr. Wiederin worked for Corner Stone Swine Production the past 12 years. He resided at Lidderdale and Carroll and had been in Ralston the last 22 years.
He was a member of St. Elizabeth Seton Parish and enjoyed hunting, camping, fishing, lawn and garden work, playing cards and following the Iowa Hawkeyes and San Francisco 49ers.
Survivors include his wife, Karlynn, of Ralston; a son, Chad Wiederin, of Ralston; his mother, Thelma Wiederin, of Carroll; 10 siblings and their spouses: LouAnn and Ron Stoffers of Omaha, Neb., Larry and Sharon Wiederin of Arcadia, Robert and Mary Wiederin of Carroll, Gary Wiederin of Lidderdale, Kathy Olson and fiancé Dick Greteman of Carroll, Lynn and Mary Wiederin of Ralston, Lois and Ron "Woody" Beyer of Carroll, LaVerne Wiederin of Carroll, LaVonne and Rick Richardson of Carroll and Mike Wiederin of Lidderdale; and a brother-in-law, Jerome Kirsch, of Carroll.
Mr. Wiederin was preceded in death by his father, Merle; a sister, Shirley Kirsch; and his father-in-law, Ron Heman.
