Sheila Elizabeth Wurr, age 48, of Coon Rapids, IA, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 20, 2026 at Thomas Rest Haven in Coon Rapids surrounded by her family.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, April 24, 2026 at Annunciation Catholic Church in Coon Rapids. Fr. Patrick Behm will be the Celebrant assisted by Deacon Louis Meiners. Lector for the Mass will be Paula Behrens. Music for the Mass will be by the Annunciation Choir with Diane Slater as organist. Eucharistic Minister will be Doug Bass. Casket bearers will be Dillon Wurr, Clay Haley, Tim Henriksen, Nate Lowe, Tim Murrane, and Chase Ayers. Burial will be in Union Township Cemetery near Coon Rapids.
Visitation will be held at Annunciation Catholic Church in Coon Rapids from 5 – 7 P.M. on Thursday where there will be a Rosary prayed at 7 P.M. Additional visitation will be held at Annunciation Catholic Church from 9:30 – 10:15 A.M. on Friday prior to the Mass.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Coon Rapids and online condolences may be left for the family at www.dahnnadwoodhouse.com
Sheila was born on February 26, 1978 in Carroll, IA. She was the daughter of Dennis and Sandra “Sandy” (Stangl) Wurr. She grew up on her family’s farm near Coon Rapids and graduated from Coon Rapids High School in 1996. She attended DMACC in Carroll and was employed by American Home Shield as a Software QA Analyst. She later worked at Western Iowa Networks in Customer Service and Thomas Rest Haven as Assistant Activities Director. Sheila headed up the Congregate Meals Program in Coon Rapids and the Coon Rapids Food Pantry for several years. Sheila was a member of the Coon Rapids Garden Club, Annunciation Parish, and the Coon Rapids American Legion Auxiliary. She was a hard worker and always willing to help others whenever she could. She especially loved taking care of her great-niece Caroline Wurr. Sheila enjoyed hunting for Morel mushrooms, spending time outdoors, and the was awesome at planning family parties and events.
Sheila is survived by her parents Dennis and Sandy Wurr of rural Coon Rapids; her brother Jaimie Wurr (Doris) of Bayard; several nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephews; aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Sheila was preceded in death by her fiancé Michael Baird in 2025; her brother Michael Wurr in 2014; and her sister Julie Wurr Ayers in 2018.
