Sheila Jean Johnson, age 72, of Glidden, IA, passed away on Saturday, July 19, 2025 at Regency Park in Carroll.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, July 30, 2025 at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church in Glidden. The Celebrant will be Fr. Timothy Schott. Lector for the Mass will be Kim Johnson. Music for the Mass will be by the St. Elizabeth Seton choir with Mary Ross as organist and Mike Bolton as soloist. Gift bearers will be Sheila’s sons Eric and Reed Johnson. Eucharistic Minister will be Judy Mayer. Casket bearers will also be her sons: Eric and Reed Johnson and grandsons: Cael Johnson, Cade Johnson, Blake Johnson, and Rex Johnson along with her honorary son Marke Rinker. Honorary casket bearers will be grandchildren: Brinn, Josie, and Bryce Johnson; Sheila’s many many good friends; and her extended family members. Burial will be in the Merle Hay Memorial Cemetery near Glidden.
Visitation will be held at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden from 5 – 7 P.M. on Tuesday, July 29 , 2025 where there will be a Christian Wake Service held at 7 P.M. The casket will be moved to St. Elizabeth Seton Church at 9:30 A.M. on Wednesday where visitation will resume until 10:15 A.M. prior to the Mass.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to EndowGlidden and may be left at the funeral home or the church.

Sheila was born on December 17, 1952 in Carroll, IA, and she was the daughter of Shirl and Malinda (Peters) Douglas. She grew up in Ralston until the 8th grade when her family moved to Glidden where she permanently called home. She graduated from Glidden - Ralston High School in 1971. Sheila was married to Mike Johnson on September 15, 1973 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Lidderdale. She had several jobs over the years including: Boomsma's Egg Plant, the Census Bureau, the Carroll Rec Center, Schon Lumber, Sharp Flower Shop, Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home, St. Anthony Regional Hospital, and 16 years at Carroll County State Bank. Sheila and Mike also owned and operated Doug and Mikes’s Bar in Glidden and the Dairy Mart for many years. Sheila enjoyed trips to the casino and traveling with her family. They attended major league baseball spring training in Arizona, Texas, and Florida. Sheila and Mike and friends traveled to Las Vegas, Cabo San Lucas, St. Martin, St. Thomas, the Bahamas, Cozumel, South Padre, Mazatlán, Puerta Vallarta, and Grand Cayman Island. She loved Friday morning coffee and Friday night dinners with the girls. She enjoyed getting her nails done, which were always perfect, and going for convertible rides with Mike ending at Lake View and dipping their feet in the water.
Sheila is survived by her two sons and their families: Eric Wayne Johnson (Kim) of Clive and Reed Helmer Johnson of Grimes; seven grandchildren which were her pride and joy: Brinn, Cael, Cade, Blake, Bryce, Josie, and Rex; a niece Sam Erickson (John Viggers); and a nephew Brad Douglas (Amanda).
Sheila was preceded in death by her parents Shirl and Malinda Douglas; her in-laws Helmer and Lou Johnson; her brother Doyle Douglas; her husband Mike in 2014; and her son Cory in 2018.
