Sharon Kay Nair, age 72, of Glidden, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, May 12, 2011 at St. Anthony Nursing Home in Carroll. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, May 16, 2011 at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church in Glidden with Fr. Anthony Pick as Celebrant assisted by Deacon Gary Schon. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden after 5:00 P.M. on Sunday where there a Christian Wake Service held at 7:00 P.M. Lector for the Mass will be Lynn Stork. Gift bearers will be Sharon’s children: Brad, B.J., and Shelli. Casket bearers will be Brad Nair, B.J. Nair, J.J. Nair, Paul Slack, Brian Johnson, and Scott Bender. Honorary casket bearers will be Sharon’s Grandchildren. Burial will be in the Merle Hay Memorial Cemetery near Glidden. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association and can be left at the funeral home or the church. Born on March 9, 1939 at Boone, Iowa, she was the daughter of Wilmer and Faye (Parsons) Brinker. Sharon grew up in Glidden and graduated from Glidden High School in 1957. She was married to Byron V. Nair on January 24, 1959 at St. Josephs Catholic Church in Carroll. Sharon was the secretary for the superintendant of the Glidden – Ralston School District for 25 years. She was a member of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church in Glidden. Sharon enjoyed card club, reading, keeping an immaculate house, gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren. Surviving are two sons: Brad Nair of Spencer, Iowa, and B.J. Nair and his wife Katie of Memphis, Tennessee; a daughter Shelli Slack and her husband Paul of Ottawa, Illinois; and eight grandchildren: Tori, J.J., Kaitlyn, Gabby, Ashley, Emma, Ben, and Andrew. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Byron in 2005.
