Funeral service for Selma Marie Kastle of Carroll will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 16, 2009, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Carroll.
Mrs. Kastle, 89, died Sunday, April 12, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
Pastors David Anthony and Brian Licht will officiate the service. Organist will be Jan Hoff.
Casket bearers will be Lynn Vonnahme, Julie Vonnahme, Jerry Arkland, Jan Arkland, Buck Kastle, Lonnie Kastle and Dave Stull. Honorary casket bearers will be Kim Drees, Kelly Drees, Kevin Drees, Kurt Drees, KaLynn Wenck and Kandace Dunn. The casket will be moved to the church at 8:30 a.m.
Burial will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery at Lidderdale.
Visitation starts at 5 p.m. and a prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll.
A daughter of Fred and Marie (Sievers) Wurr, she was born Aug. 27, 1919, at her family's home in Sheridan Township in Carroll County. She was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lidderdale and attended rural school.
She and John Kastle were married Dec. 20, 1939, at the Lutheran parsonage in Ulmer.
Mrs. Kastle was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and the Lanesboro Garden Club, and she enjoyed flowers, cooking, baking and her cat Angel.
Survivors include a daughter, Dianna Miller, and special friend Dave Stull of West Des Moines; a daughter-in-law, Janice Klocke, of Carroll; a sister, Phyllis Drees, and her husband, Vernon, of Carroll; seven grandchildren: Julie and Lynn Vonnahme, Lonnie Kastle, Jenny and Jerry Arkland and Buck Kastle; eight great-grandchildren; and four sisters-in-law: Edith Kastle of Carroll, Rose Snyder of Carroll, Marcella Kern of Carlsbad, Calif., and Ardella Heiman of San Bernardino, Calif.
Mrs. Kastle was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John; and two sons: Larry and David Kastle.
