Scott Wayne Davis, age 67, of rural Glidden, IA, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Friday, December 27, 2019.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, December 29, 2019 at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden with Rev. Lorinda Hoover officiating. Casket bearers will be Mark Davis, Jon Davis, Chad Stokes, Jeff Schwering, Delwin Krause, and Terry Janssen. Honorary casket bearers will be Scott’s grandchildren: Cole Genter, Garrett Genter, Ethan Genter, Evan Genter, Lily Genter, and Isabella Armitage. Burial will be in the Merle Hay Memorial Cemetery near Glidden with military honors by the Glidden American Legion.
Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden from 5 – 7 P.M. on Sunday. Additional visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 9:30 A.M. until 10:15 A.M. Born on July 15, 1952, in Lake City, IA, he was the son of Ira “Wayne” and Clara (Chase) Davis. He grew up on his family’s farm north of Glidden and attended Glidden – Ralston High School. Following high school, Scott enlisted in the United States Army and served three years stationed at Ft. Hood and Ft. Atkinson. Following his honorable discharge he attended horse shoeing school in Arizona and then worked as a farrier for 30 years. Scott was married to Carol Racine on February 18, 1977 in Carroll and to union two daughters were born: Rose and Carmen. Scott enjoyed fishing, coon hunting and all things to do with horses.
Scott is survived by his two daughters: Rose Genter (Nate Rausch) Glidden, IA, and Carmen Davis of Dedham; six grandchildren; a sister Bonnie Davis of Des Moines; two brothers: DeLoss Davis (Doris) of Glidden and Charles Davis of Casey, IA; and several nieces and nephews.
Scott was preceded in death by his father Ira “Wayne” Davis; his mother Clara Chase; and his sister Nancy Davis.
