Sandra Leah Heires

Sandra “Sandy” Leah Heires, age 68, of Carroll, IA, passed away on Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at the St. Anthony Nursing Home in Carroll.

A private graveside service will be held at a later date at the Mt. Hope Cemetery north of Lidderdale.

Sandy was born on January 9, 1956 in Des Moines, IA, the daughter of Herman and Ann (Hacker) Heires. She attended Guthrie Center Community Schools, graduating with the High School Class of 1974. After graduation, she worked on the family farm near Guthrie Center until she made Carroll home in 1979. She was employed for General Electric in Carroll until 1995. During this time, she also worked as a housekeeper for a motel. She then worked for Service Masters in Carroll until 2000 before becoming employed with McDonald’s until she retired in 2005.

In July of 2010, she was united in marriage to Chris Urszan in Carroll. Sandy loved spending time with Chris until he passed away on August 10, 2012. She enjoyed watching old time television shows and gameshows. But most of all she loved being a mother.

Sandy is survived by her sons: Justin Heires of Carroll, Joshua Renze, Jason Renze and Jeremy Renze all of Carroll; other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband Chris Urszan; her infant daughter; her parents; and her brother Chris Heires.
