Ruby M. Thieman

Ruby M. Thieman, age 90, of Glidden, IA, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 7, 2014 at St. Anthony Nursing Home in Carroll. Ruby was born on April 28, 1923 at Tyler, Minnesota, she was the daughter of Jens P. and Annie C. (Sorensen) Petersen. She lived in Minnesota and Iowa before settling with her husband Irwin in Albert City, Iowa where she spent many years sewing and volunteering at her church. She later moved to the Carroll area to be closer to family. Ruby enjoyed knitting, crocheting, reading, country music, and in recent years spending time with her grandchildren. Ruby is survived by her daughter Lou Ann Forward and her husband David of Glidden; her grandchildren: Lynn Hightower of Boise, ID, Cheryl Hightower of Kansas City, MO, Gary Hightower of SanDeigo, CA, Scott Riste and his wife Maria of Commerce, MI, Jeff Nehring and his wife Kristin of Willey, IA, and Greg Nehring of Glidden, IA; and eight great grandchildren. Ruby was preceded in death by her husband Irwin in 1982 and her sons Roger and Richard Riste. A graveside service will be held at a later date at St. John’s Cemetery near Albert City, Iowa.
