Rose Mary Irlbeck, age 61, of Dedham passed away Tuesday, February 16, 2016, at Hillcrest Hospice in Bellevue, NE, surrounded by her family after a short, courageous battle with cancer. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Dedham with Fr. Andrew Hoffman as Celebrant. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Coon Rapids after 3:30 P.M. Friday where there will be a Rosary at 4:30 P.M. and a Christian Wake Service at 6:30 P.M. The casket will be moved to St. Joseph’s Church at 9:30 A.M. Saturday where visitation will resume until the time of service. Music for the Mass will be by the St. Joseph’s Choir with Cindy Bauer as organist. Lector for the Mass will be Susan Gruhn. Gift bearers will be Caleb and Ian Helgerson, Craig and Aaron Irlbeck, and Hannah and Chloee Shanks. Eucharistic Ministers will be Teresa Myers and Patricia Glassell. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Dedham. Casket bearers will be Michael Irlbeck, David Irlbeck, Mark Irlbeck, Matt Helgerson, Ben Shanks and Adam Elert. Honorary casket bearers will be Rose’s grandchildren. She grew up on the family dairy farm and loved to tell stories of life on the farm with her parents and 11 siblings. She graduated from Don Bosco High School in Gilbertville, Iowa. Rose was united in marriage to Edward Irlbeck Jr. in Des Moines, Iowa on August 6, 1976. Born of this union were 7 children and 13 grandchildren. Rose was a farm wife and enjoyed staying at home with her children. Rose maintained a large garden and canned much of the produce. One of Rose’s greatest joys was spending time with family and playing with her grandchildren. Rose is survived by her husband, Edward Jr. of Dedham; her children Amy (Matt) Helgerson of Ames, Michael (Megan) Irlbeck of Coon Rapids, David (Katie) Irlbeck of Coon Rapids, Donna (Ben) Shanks of Auburn, Mark (Andrea) Irlbeck of Coon Rapids, Mary (Adam) Ebert of Coon Rapids, and Beth Irlbeck of Atlantic. She is also survived by her 13 grandchildren Caleb and Ian Helgerson; Craig, Aaron, and Eric Irlbeck; Paisley Irlbeck; Hannah, Chloee, Bailey, and Josie Shanks; Rylee Irlbeck; and Heidi and Logan Ebert. She is survived by her siblings James (Meriel) Demuth of Clarion, Barb Sharp of Urbandale, Marilyn (Lynn) Schulte of Prole, Ruth Demuth of Tiffin, Teresa (Michael) Myers of Waukon, Fritz (Marge) Demuth of Jesup, Ron (Sylvia) Demuth of Encinitas, Calif., Sue Tarasi of Ankeny and Pat (Randy) Glassell of Prole. She is also survived by sisters-in-laws Debbie Demuth of St. Joseph, MO, Elaine Irlbeck of Council Bluffs, Katherine Dentlinger of Coon Rapids, Angeline (Joe) Gassman of Lake City, and Dorene Biederman of Council Bluffs; and brother-in-law Terry McDowell of Irwin. She was also survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents Paul and Cleone Demuth, her mother and father in-law Edward Sr. and Katherine Irlbeck, and brothers Anthony Demuth and David Demuth, and numerous brother and sister in-laws.
