Ronald LaVerne Owen, age 77, of Glidden passed away on Friday, November 9, 2018 at his home in Glidden.

Funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden with Pastor Rick Hamilton officiating. Casket bearers will be Duane Owen, Zack Onken, Ryan King, Glen Kerkhoff, Greg Davis, and Mike Lloyd. Burial will be in the Merle Hay Memorial Cemetery near Glidden.

Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden from 5 – 7 P.M. on Monday evening. Visitation will

resume at the funeral home at 9:30 A.M. on Tuesday and continue until the time of service. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden and online condolences may be left for Ron’s family at www.dahnandwoodhouse.com

Born on October 24, 1941 at his family’s home in Glidden, he was the son of Gail and Clara (Toms) Owen. Ron was a life-long resident of Glidden where he graduated from high school in 1960. Following high school, he received a football scholarship to Yankton College in Yankton, SD. He was married on September 16, 1963 to Bonnie Lou Mead at the First Presbyterian Church in Carroll. To this union two children were born, Kelly and Ronna. Ron worked at AMF in Jefferson for 33 years retiring in 2011. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and golfing. He was a family man and truly adored his wife, children, and grandchildren.

Ron is survived by his wife Bonnie of Glidden of 55 years; his son Kelly Owen (Angela) of Polk City, IA; his daughter Ronna Owen (Greg Davis) of Coon Rapids; six grandchildren: Mitch Owen, Danielle Lawhead, Caleb Owen, Lucas Owen, Ryan King, and Mackenzie King; one great-grandson Abel Elliott; a brother Kenneth Owen (Leona) of Glidden; two sisters: Marion Janssen (LeRoy) of Glidden and Shirley Zieman (Gary) of Phoenix, AZ; a sister-in-law Betty Mead of Troy, TX; a brother-in-law Steve Mead (Judy) Aiken, SC; and several nieces and nephews.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents Gail and Clara Owen; his mother and father-in-law Robert and Anna Mead; and his brother Donald Owen.
