Ron was born on July 14, 1948 in Carroll, IA, and he was the son of Leonard and Esther (Boji) Breidert. He grew up on a farm north of Glidden and graduated from Glidden-Ralston High School in 1966. Ron was noted for his pitching abilities in high school and tried out for the Minnesota Twins and made the team. Due to an injury, he was not able to play and returned home to Glidden. Upon being home, he entered the Army National Guard from 1968 – 1973. Ron was married to Kathleen Kay Knute on May 15, 1971 at Peace Lutheran Church in Glidden Pastor Rosenau. Ron and Kathy made their home on a farm north of Glidden where they raised their two children Tammy and Bill and farmed their entire married life. Ron and Kathy retired from farming in 2018 when they moved into Glidden. Ron was a member of the Glidden American Legion and served as 2nd Vice Commander. He was an active member of Peace Lutheran Church where he served as Elder, on the Board of Trustees, and PLC Charity Board. Ron enjoyed going on fishing trips to Canada, playing cards, and having coffee with his friends, playing slow pitch, but most of all he loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren and attending their events.

Ron is survived by his wife Kathy of Glidden; their two children: Tammy Wessman (James) of Lake View, and Bill Breidert of Glidden; three grandchildren: Katie Breidert, Carter Shedd, and Kortney Webb (Jason); three great-grandchildren: Jaydon, Aryiana, and Alexia; a sister-in-law Cindy Weaklend (Ron) of Fremont, NE; a brother-in-law Bruce Knute (Doris) of Glidden; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
