Ron Duane Byerly

Ron Duane Byerly, age 74, of Carroll, Iowa and formerly of Scranton, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, November 13, 2024 at Odeboldt Specialty Care in Odeboldt.

A private family service will be held at the Scranton Township Cemetery in Scranton, Iowa with Rev. Angelo Luis officiating.

Ron was born July 10, 1950 in Jefferson, Iowa and was the son of Earl and Gladys (Waldo) Byerly. He lived in Churdan and Scranton for a few years before the family moved to Southern California. He attended John Glenn High School in California graduating with the High School Class of 1968. He was employed for Sully-Miller Contracting Company in Upland where he was a heavy machinery operator for several years until he retired. In November of 1970 he was united in marriage to Sharon Swinford. They were blessed with two children Chad, and Dawn. In 1995, they moved to Scranton for a few years before moving back to California.  In 2001, they moved back to Scranton, Iowa where they enjoyed their retirement. Ron loved putting together model airplanes and attending several airshows. He also enjoyed collecting military patches.

Ron is survived by his daughter Dawn (Ron) Uhlenkamp of Carroll; grandsons, Tyler Uhlenkamp and Grant Uhlenkamp; granddaughters: Holly (Brad) Warnke, Amy (Luke) Robinson, and Kaitlin (Casey) Petersen; 8 great-grandchildren; sister Connie Pinkerton; brother James “Jim” (Norma) Byerly; sisters-in-law, Loretta Byerly and Gayle Granville; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Ron is preceded in death by his wife Sharon Byerly in March of 2019; son Chad Byerly in May of 1974; his parents; and brother D.J. Byerly.
