Romayne was born on July 25, 1942 in Carroll, IA, and he was the son of Milford and Ethel (Dillavou) Bundt.  He grew up in the Lanesboro area and graduated from Glidden High School in 1961.  Following high school he helped his father on the farm and then went to work for Lytton Creamery.  He was drafted into the United States Army in 1966.  Romayne served in Ft. Leonard Wood, MO as a cook for two years and was honorably discharged in 1968.  Upon his return, he went back to work for the creamery and then Standard Oil.  Romayne then farmed for 18 years on the Winters’ farm east of Lanesboro before purchasing his own farm in 1990.  He was united in marriage to Wilma Lantz on June 14, 1969 at the United Methodist Church in Woodbine.  They were members of the Scranton Friends Church for many years before its closing when they became members of Grace Baptist Church in Glidden.  Romayne and Wilma read meters for the Glidden REC for 28 years and he drove school bus for the Glidden School for five years.  Romayne and Wilma moved into Glidden in 2007, and following Wilma’s passing on August 22, 2013 he moved to Swan Place in Carroll. He was a member of the Merle Hay Post #386 of the American Legion.  He enjoyed Sudoku, playing Wii Bowling, watching nature and wildlife, taking van rides with Swan Place, and following sports.  For those folks who did not know how to spell his name, he would proudly say “You can call me Romeo”.  He always liked to keep the nurses on their toes.  He has lived at Swan Place in Carroll since 2014 where he led mealtime prayers and had many good friends.  Romayne was a farmer at heart and still enjoyed keeping up with current farm activities.  He was a people person, he loved to socialize, and he never knew a stranger.

Romayne is survived by; two sons: Terry Bundt (Stephanie) of Leon, and Allen Bundt (Peggy) of Churdan; three daughters: Donna Bass (Doug) of Liberty, MO, Betty Oldham (Andy) of Lee’s Summit, MO, and Renee Bailey (Andy) of South Sioux City, NE; thirteen grandchildren; three brothers: Duane Bundt (Joan) of Ames, Vernon Bundt (Juanita) of Glidden, and David Bundt (Kathleen) of Wisconsin; two sisters: Geraldine Scholtens of Michigan, and Joan Mitchell (David) of Maine; a sister-in-law Irene Lantz of Onawa and a brother-in-law Donald Lantz (Mary) of Woodbine; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
