Roger Elmer Lucht

Roger Elmer Lucht, age 82, of Coon Rapids, IA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 24, 2026 at his residence surrounded by his family.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, July 1, 2026 at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Coon Rapids with Kelly Gafkjen of Hospice of the Midwest officiating. Burial will be in Union Township Cemetery near Coon Rapids.

Visitation will be held at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Coon Rapids on Tuesday from 5 – 7 P.M. Visitation will resume at the funeral home on Wednesday from 9:30 – 10:15 A.M. Prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested for a later designation.

Roger was born on May 22, 1944 on his family’s farm near Coon Rapids. He was the son of Elmer and Margaret (Carstens) Lucht. He grew up in Coon Rapids where he graduated from high school in 1962. He began working for Garst and Thomas Seed Company right out of high school. Roger was married to Jerilynn Robertson for nine years and to this union a son Chad was born. He was then united in marriage to Jean Pingery on October 6, 1973 in Garden City, KS. The couple lived in Garden City and several other locations before moving back to Coon Rapids in 1976. In 1985, he began working for NC+ Seed Company which took them to Grand Junction, IA, as plant manager for 23 years. In 2004, Roger found his passion driving semi over the road as a self-employed operator. He loved fishing, camping, dancing, gardening, spending time at the Aztec Lounge and Restaurant, and spending time with his family especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Roger is survived by his wife Jean Lucht of Coon Rapids; his children and their families: Chad Lucht (Melody), Phil Costabile (Julie), and Dan Lucht (Brenda Ford); eight grandchildren: Jordyn Wetterling (Clint), Desiree Lucht (Brian Anthofer), Tyler Prall (Emily Tice), Christian Lucht (Courtney), Trevor Lucht, Caitlyn Lucht (fiancée Anthony Cooper), Caleb Lucht, and Camdyn Costabile; eight great-grandchildren: Brecken, Knox, Serenity, Riggs, Alydia, Anna, Addie, and Avery; a brother Mark Lucht (Sarah); two sisters-in-law: Mary Alex and Janet Hachmeister; two brothers-in-law Wayne Mozena and Larry VanVooren; and many nieces and nephews.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents Elmer and Margaret Lucht; his in-laws: Kenneth and Elizabeth Pingery; a sister Donna Mozena; a brother Jerry Lucht; and a sister-in-law Molly VanVooren.
