Roger Alvin Haynes Jr. age 84 of Carroll passed away at his home on Monday, January 14, 2008. Born on January 28, 1923 at Galesburg, Illinois, he was the son of Roger A. Sr. and Ona (Eldridge) Ritchey. He grew up in Monmouth, Illinois, where he graduated from high school. He moved to Carroll in 1953 and worked for Spurgeons Department Store as the store manager. He was married to Irene Gummerson on August 19, 1942 in Wisconsin. Roger served in the military during WW II and was stationed in Korea. After the war the couple lived in LaCrosse, Wisconsin, Winona, Minnesota, and Mankato, Minnesota before moving to Carroll. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Carroll and the Masonic Lodge where he was a past master. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and woodworking. Surviving are a son Michael “Dave” Haynes and his wife Renee of Henderson, Nevada; a son Ron Haynes and his wife Shirlene of Evergreen, Colorado; a daughter Janet Antisdel and her husband Bill of Ankeny, Iowa; two grandchildren: Nicole Wandrey and her husband Josh of Ankeny, Iowa and Cameron Haynes of Henderson, Nevada; step-grandchildren Brent Antisdel and wife Melissa of Urbandale, Iowa, Brad Antisdel and wife Kim of Kansas City, Kansas, Stefan Wenger and wife Janette, Stuart Wenger and wife Leah, Shana Johnson and husband Aaron all of Colorado, and eight step- great grandchildren, a half brother Verne Ritchey of Mississippi; and a half sister Bonnie Franklin of California. He was preceded in death by his wife Irene, his parents, two half sisters: Joyce Elliott and Patricia Mooney, and a half brother Jack Haynes. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, January 21, 2008 at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll with Rev. Betty Weidert of First Union Church in Lake City officiating. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll after 5:00 P.M. on Sunday where there will be a Masonic Memorial Service will be held at 7:00 P.M.. Burial will be in the Carroll City Cemetery with military honors by the Carroll American Legion. Casket bearers will be Bill Schaefer, Curt Jensen, Jim Pedelty, Don Prior, Glen Lockhart, and George Towers. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.dahnandwoodhouse.com
