Rodney Andrew Walker, age 55, of Scranton passed away on Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at the Greene County Medical Center in Jefferson. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at the Church of Christ in Scranton with Rev. Robert McKnight officiating. Visitation will be held from 5 – 7 P.M. on Monday at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Scranton. The casket will be moved to the church at 8:30 A.M. on Tuesday where visitation will resume until the time of service. Casket bearers will be Earl Roberts, Jens Villebro, Rick Morgan, Tom Walker, B.J. Wright, Eldon Wright, Jerry Boyd, Randy Walker and Tim Hanneman. Burial will be in the Scranton Township Cemetery. Born on January 30, 1959 in Jefferson he was the son of Joseph Theodore and Roberta June (Speakman) Walker. He grew up in Scranton and graduated from Scranton High School in 1977. Following high school he farmed south of Scranton until 2002 and he owned and operated Walker’s Sales and Repair from 1998 - 2005. He was married to Rina Laursen in July of 1978. To this union were born two children, Michael Joseph and Melissa Kay. The couple divorced and Rodney was later married to Nancy Story in December of 1994. The couple had a daughter Sarah Catherine and Rod was a father to Tyler and Sheana Story. Rod and Nancy divorced and he was married to Tina Ballantine on August 3, 2013. To this union was born a son Andrew James and Rodney was a father to Troy, Roger, Kamy. Rodney was currently employed by Scranton Manufacturing in the research and development department. He served on the Scranton City Council since 2003 and was currently serving his second term as the mayor of Scranton. He also served on the Scranton Fire and Rescue Department for many years. Rodney enjoyed working on engines in his shop, camping, being involved with his children’s activities, and going for rides in the country. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. Rodney is survived by his wife Tina Walker of Scranton; four daughters: Melissa Barrett and her husband Mike of Jefferson, Sheana Story of Des Moines, Sarah Walker of Newton, and Kamy Walker of Scranton; five sons: Michael Walker and his wife Cassandra of Vesta, MN, Tyler Story of Des Moines, and Troy, Roger and Andrew Walker all at home; five grandchildren: Kya, Paige, Autumn, Lillian, and Josephina; three brothers: Robert Walker and his wife Michele of Scranton, James Walker and his wife Ginger of Blaine, MN, and Ronald Walker and his husband Abe of Nashville, TN; three aunts Mabel Farrell, Margie French, and Mary Lou (Walker) Novak and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Rodney was preceded in death by his parents, his step-father Dale “Doc” Steward, a brother Joseph Theodore Jr., an uncle James Walker and several other aunts and uncles.
