Robert A. Kinnick

Robert Aaron Kinnick, age 77, of Grand Junction, Iowa, passed away on Monday, April 20, 2026 at Thomas Rest Haven in Coon Rapids, Iowa.

A private family graveside service will be held at the Highland Township Cemetery in rural Bayard, Iowa.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the family in memory of Robert and can be mailed to P.O. Box 20, Bayard, Iowa, 50029.

Robert was born on September 8, 1948 in Austin, Minnesota, and was the son of Lyle and Eva Marie (Marchant) Kinnick. He grew up in the Bayard area and graduated from Bayard Community Schools with the Class of 1967. On June 6, 1972 he was united in marriage to Diane Hickok. The couple were blessed with two children, Gordon and Heather. The couple later divorced. Robert was a hard worker and during his working years, he was employed for Garst Farms in Coon Rapids for 7 years and later the Department of Transportation as a truck driver out of Jefferson for 31 years until he retired. Robert kept to himself but long believed wherever you’re at or whatever you’re doing, make the best of it. He enjoyed spending time with his friends, family, and most importantly, his four-legged friend, Susie. Robert will be remembered for his caring of his family.

Left to cherish his memory is his son Gordon Kinnick and significant other Tanya; daughter Heather Spitler (Larry); grandchildren: Chato, Dakota, and Josh; sister Diana Sheer; brother-in-law Jimmy Hickok; nephews: Christopher “Chris” White, Justin “JJ” Sheer, Nick Kinnick, and Dustin Kinnick; many aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.

Robert is preceded in death by his parents; maternal and paternal grandparents; brother Allen Kinnick; brother-in-law John Sheer; former spouse Diane; and nephew Gregory White.
