Robert “Bob” Dean Headlee, age 78, of Carroll passed away on Saturday, October 04, 2014 at St. Anthony Nursing Home Hospice in Carroll. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, October 9, 2014 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Carroll with Fr. Timothy Schott as Celebrant. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll after 4:00 P.M. on Wednesday where there will be a Christian Wake Service at 6:00 P.M. The casket will be moved to the St. Lawrence Church at 8:30 A.M. on Thursday where visitation will resume until the time of service. Lector for the Mass will be Dianne Hannasch. Gift Bearers will be Tyler and Tanner Headlee. Eucharistic Ministers will be Lynette Lehrter and Jim Eich. Music for the service will be by Kate Cuddy and Jean Knobbe. Casket bearers will be members of the Round Table Coffee Group: Dave Malin, Kim Teifenthaler, Chuck Thatcher, Duane Quinn, John Hall, Dave Quandt, Gary Tiefenthaler and Tom Rogers. Honorary casket bearers will be Bob’s Grandchildren. The funeral procession will be led to the cemetery by the Corvette Club and the RPM Club. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll with military honors by the Carroll American Legion. Born on December 2, 1935 in Carroll he was the son of Daniel and Marion (Johnson) Headlee. Bob was a lifelong resident of Carroll and graduated from Carroll High School in 1956. He began working in the family business, Carroll Auto Salvage, as a boy and continued as owner and operator until his passing. Bob has always enjoyed cars, for work and play. He raced a stock car in his early years and later loved his Corvettes. He enjoyed the RPM Club and Corvette Club both of which he was an active member. Bob made many memorable trips over the years with the clubs to car shows, outings, and events of all types. He enjoyed having coffee with the Round Table Group every morning at MC’s Cafe. Bob relished the time he spent with family, especially the holidays and always insisted on taking them out for dinner. Bob is survived by two sons: Michael Headlee and his wife Jean of Carroll and Mark Headlee and his wife Tonya of Urbandale; a daughter Ronda Nicholson and her husband Kurt of Indianola; seven grandchildren: Tyler, Tanner, Alexa, and Kaleb Headlee and Jacob, Mitchell, and Kaytee Nicholson; a sister Mary Becker of Carroll; a brother-in-law Jim Vincent of Sac City; two nephews: Jeff Becker and his wife Jackie of Carroll and Shawn Vincent and his wife Charlotte of Texas; and a niece Cindy Becker. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, a son Robin in infancy, and a sister Beverly Vincent, four nephews: Randy Becker, Rick Vincent, Kevin Vincent and Bill Becker Jr.
