Robert James Evans, age 67, of Templeton, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, April 10, 2014 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll with Pastor Tim Capon of Faith Baptist Church in Carroll officiating. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll from 5 – 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Templeton. Casket bearers will be Tim Reiling, Jeff Cayler, Chico Kanne, Brian Kuhlmann, Kyle Hansen, and Doyle Engelen.
Born on November 22, 1946 in Middletown, New York, he was the son of Harold and Betty (White) Evans. He grew up in Middletown and graduated from high school in 1964. He attended Midwestern College in Denison where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Education. Bob taught 6th grade in the Ar-We-Va School System for several years. He owned and operated Super Wash in Carroll, he was part owner of the Sears Store in Carroll, and he managed Mac’s for several years. Most recently he worked for Goodrich Manufacturing in Carroll retiring in 2012. Bob has been a resident of Templeton for the past two years. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes Basketball and Football fan and he enjoyed tailgating at games. Bob also enjoyed cooking, he ran in marathons in his younger years, and he loved spending time with his family.
Bob is survived by two daughters: Ericka Bollinger and her husband Matt of Chicago, Illinois, and Sydney Evans of Templeton; and four grandchildren: Tegan, Jack, Myles, and Harper Bollinger. He was preceded in death by his parents.
