Robert “Bob” Marcus Snyder, age 89, of Carroll, IA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 26, 2025 at Journey Senior Service in Carroll.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, October 31, 2025 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church - St. John Paul II Parish in Carroll. Fr. Patrick Behm will be the Celebrant. Lectors for the Mass will be Melissa Snyder and Stacie Tonniges. Mass Servers will be Hunter Tonniges, Fischer Tonniges, and Aiden Handlos. Gift bearers will be Emery Snyder and Emma Handlos. Casket bearers will be grandsons: Josh Snyder, Elijah Snyder, Lukas Snyder, Kacy Snyder, Chris Skoog, Adam Snyder, Drew Snyder and Keaton Snyder, and Grant Snyder. Honorary casket bearer in memory will be grandson Robert Snyder. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll.

A Rosary will be prayed at 4:30 P.M. on Thursday at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll with visitation following from 5 – 7 P.M.

The casket will be moved to Holy Spirit Church at 9:30 A.M. on Friday where visitation will resume until 10:15 A.M. prior to the Mass.

Bob was born on September 18, 1936 in Carroll, IA. He was the son of Lawrence and Frances (Osterholdt) Snyder. He grew up in the Mt. Carmel / Breda area and attended country school. He began working for Pete O’Tool trimming trees as a young man. Bob was married to Phyllis Zerwas on October 28, 1954 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Manning. Bob went to work for Pepsi Cola Bottling until 1966 when he began Snyder Tree Service and Nursery. Along with beginning a legacy family business, Bob enjoyed family time, fishing with Phyllis and the kids, hunting, and playing cards.

Bob is survived by his children and families: Terri Skoog (Eric) of Denison, Lawrence Snyder (Lora) of Halbur, John Snyder (Debra) of Lake View, Kenny Snyder (Nancy) of Carroll, David Snyder (Michelle) of Glidden, Angie McNeill of Prior Lake, MN, Jim Snyder (Donna) of Carroll, Curt Snyder (Jennifer) of Carroll, and Phillip Snyder (Michele) of Indianapolis, IN; 31 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters-in-law: Anne Allen (Tom), and Lois Bandow (Tom); a brother-in-law Phillip Zerwas (Jean); and many nieces and nephews.

Bob was preceded in death by his wife Phyllis in 2006; his parents Lawrence and Frances Snyder; his in-laws Eugene and Zita Zerwas; two sisters: Alvina Wieland (Paul) and Lorraine Boell (Virgil); three brothers: Albert Snyder (Charlene), Jack Snyder (Gladys), and Ron Bruning (Marvel); a son-in-law Jim McNeil; and grandson Robert Snyder; and a granddaughter Sarah Saldi-Skoog.
