Robert (Bob) Michael Peter, 74, of Dedham passed away Friday, November 6, 2015, at Regency Park Nursing and Rehabilitation in Carroll, Iowa. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Dedham. The celebrant will be Father Andrew Hoffman. Mass servers will be Kalee Peter and Kara Peter. Lector will be Alvin Mueggenberg. Gift bearers will be Miranda Sloss, Samuel Sloss, and Raelyn Lowe. Eucharistic ministers will be Mary Grossman and Dale Mueggenberg. Casket bearers will be Dillon Wurr, Dustin Potkonak, Jay Peter, Josh Peter, Kaleb Shirbroun, Riley Peter, Kendra Peter. Honorary casket bearers will be Sarah (Dustin) Sloss, Jessica (Nate Lowe) Wurr, Samantha Potkonak, Lucas Shirbroun, Emily Peter, Kalee Peter, Kara Peter, Kaci Peter, Kolbi Peter, Kamri Peter, Miranda Sloss, Samuel Sloss, Raelyn Lowe, and Kohen Lowe. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Dedham. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll after 3:30 P.M. on Monday where there will be a Rosary at 4:00 P.M. and a Christian Wake Service at 6:30 P.M. by St. Jospeh’s Parish. The casket will be moved to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church at 9:00 A.M. on Tuesday where visitation will resume until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left at the funeral home or at the church to be directed to the family for a later designation. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.dahnandwoodhouse.com Born July 6, 1941, in Dedham, Iowa, Robert Michael was a son of Frank and Anna (Gruber) Peter. He was a life-long resident of Dedham and attended St. Joseph School. Robert later graduated from Kuemper Catholic High School. On April 20, 1963, Robert married Jane Mueggenberg at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breda. The couple made their home in Dedham. Robert was employed as a feed mill manager with the Dedham Cooperative for 38 years before retiring in 2003. He was a member of the Dedham Fire Department, Dedham City Council, and St. Joseph Catholic Church. He was an avid fishermen and enjoyed his retirement. He spent time as a Boy Scout leader (Troop 32). He also enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Robert (Bob) is survived by his wife of 52 years, Jane Peter of Dedham; 5 children: Doris (Jaimie) Wurr of Bayard, Mary Jo (Dan) Potkonak of Iowa Falls, Michelle (Jeff) Shirbroun of Coon Rapids, Michael (Annie) Peter of Dedham, and John (Stacey) Peter of Carroll; daughter-in-law, Laura Myers (widow of the late James Peter) of Papillion, Nebraska; 17 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; his siblings: Betty Riesenberg of Carroll, Frances (Kenneth “Shorty”) Wieland of Templeton, and Carol (Vernon) Irlmeier of Glidden; his brothers and sisters-in-law: JoAnn (Robert) Gehling of Carroll, Dale (Arlene) Mueggenberg of Breda, Kenneth (Louayne) Mueggenberg of Carroll, Ruth (Gordon) Thomson of Port Angeles, Washington, Linda Gehling of Carroll, Gary (Pat) Mueggenberg of Lake View, Richard (Marilyn) Mueggenberg of Arcadia, Cindy Mueggenberg of Carroll, Mary (Randy) Grossman of Carroll, Alvin (Sue) Mueggenberg of Arcadia, Darrell (Renee) Mueggenberg of Arcadia, Neil (Marlene) Mueggenberg of Cedar Rapids, Nancy Mueggenberg of Breda; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other extended relatives. Robert was preceded in death by his parents; a son, James Dale Peter; his siblings: Marie Danner, Alfred Peter, Rose Maile, Dorothy Ziegmann, Lucille Ziegmann, and Theresa Riesenberg; his in-laws: Alfred Danner, Mark Mueggenberg, Carl Gehling, Ronald Mueggenberg, Ray Riesenberg, Marvin Ziegmann, and LaVonne Peter.
