Robert “Bob” Eugene Anderson, age 68, of Coon Rapids, IA, passed away on Wednesday, February 23, 2022 at his home in Coon Rapids.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, March 2, 2022 at the First United Methodist Church in Coon Rapids with John Kult officiating. Casket bearers will be Taylor Ekstrand, Cole Goughnour, Megan Goughnour, Al Tigges, and Doug Zimmerman. Honorary casket bearers Gordon Gymer, Elliott Obert, Steve Kult, Doyle Zimmerman, Keith Mentzer, and Lance Wright. Burial will be in the Union Township Cemetery near Coon Rapids.
Visitation will be held at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Coon Rapids from 5 – 7 P.M. on Tuesday evening. The casket will be moved to the First United Methodist Church at 9:30 A.M. on Wednesday where visitation will resume until 10:15 A.M. prior to the service.

Bob was born on August 2, 1953 in Des Moines, IA, and he was the son of William and June (Pettit) Waters. At the age of 5, Bob moved to Coon Rapids and was adopted at age 6 by Don and Leona (Ott) Anderson. He graduated from Coon Rapids High School in 1972 and then attended Iowa Central Community College in Ft. Dodge. After college he returned to Coon Rapids and began working for Garst and Thomas Seed Company. He was married to Carlette Osterlund on June 15, 1974 at First United Methodist Church in Carroll. The couple made their home in Coon Rapids where they raised daughter Nikki. Bob was a member of the Coon Rapids Jaycee’s where he held several offices regionally, he served on the Coon Rapids School Board, the Coon Rapids Ambulance service, and the Sons of the American Legion in Dedham. He also worked for St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll and Thomas Rest Haven in Coon Rapids and recently retired to part time in 2020. Bob enjoyed woodworking, bowling, grilling out, and collecting coins, seed corn signs, caps, seed corn sacks, stamps, and pop tabs. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family especially his grandchildren proudly attending all their activities.
Bob is survived by his wife Carlette of Coon Rapids; his daughter Nikki Goughnour (Jay) of Polk City; three grandchildren: Taylor Ekstrand (Caleb) of Ankeny, Cole Goughnour, and Megan Goughnour both of Polk City; and several other extended family members including his brother Nathan Borrett (Robin) of Marion and sister Lori McConaughy (Kevin) of Allison.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents William and June Waters and Don and Leona Anderson; his in-laws Art and Mildred Osterlund; one brother; and many other extended family members.
