Rick Lawler

Rick Lawler, age 66, of Sioux City, IA, and formerly of Carroll, IA, passed away on Thursday, August 6, 2026 at Accura Healthcare in Lake City, IA.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, August 10, 2026 at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll with Deacon Scott Steffen officiating. Casket bearers will be Rick’s family members.

Visitation will be held at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll from 12:30 P.M. – 1:45 P.M. on Monday prior to the funeral. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll at a later date.

Richard “Rick” Anthony Lawler was born on June 13, 1960 in Carroll, IA. He was a son of Louis and Anna Mae (Knobbe) Lawler. He grew up in Carroll and moved to Sioux City in 1973. He graduated from East High School in 1978. He attended Western Iowa Tech where he graduated with a business degree. Rick managed several businesses in Sioux City including 7-11, Bonanza, and most recently Dollar Tree. He moved to Carroll in 2015 to be near his family. He enjoyed collecting Star Wars memorabilia and doing D.J. work at a local radio station in Sioux City.

Rick is survived by his eight siblings and their families: Marilou (Lornie) Topp of Carroll; Pat Lawler of Auburn; Denny (Mary) Lawler of Dedham; Barb (Russ) Cornelius of Carroll; Ken Lawler of Spirit Lake; Mark (Beth) Lawler of Carroll; Tom (Robyn) Lawler of Carroll and Jerry Lawler of Carroll; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Rick was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Dan.
