Richard Joseph Beyer, age 64, of Carroll passed away on Sunday, February 2, 2020 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, February 8, 2020 at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll with Rev. Rick Hamilton officiating.  Military honors will be conducted by the Carroll American Legion.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home for one hour prior to the service.  Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll and online condolences may be left for the family at www.dahnandwoodhouse.com

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Rick’s name for a later designation and memorials may be left at the funeral home.

Born on December 12, 1955 in Carroll, IA, he was the son of Paul and Amanda (Geier) Beyer.  Rick grew up in Carroll and graduated from Carroll High School in 1974.  Following high school he enlisted in the United States Army and served three years.  Following his honorable discharge, he returned to Carroll and worked at Denny’s Restaurant and Triple F Feeds in Westside.  He later worked for DMACC and then drove school bus for Carroll Community Schools.  Rick was married to Shirlene Sturm in 1983.   The couple divorced and Rick was later married to Sharon Renaud in 2001.   Rick was an avid fisherman and also enjoyed gardening, playing cards, reading, cooking, and watching westerns.

Rick is survived by his wife Sharon of Carroll; three children: Cassie Beyer of Chicago, IL, Cara Smith (Bob) of Huntington Mills, PA, Tara Renaud of Shickshinny, PA; three grandchildren: Robert, Lilly, and Devin; his mother Amanda Olsen of Carroll; two brothers: Ron “Woody” Beyer of Carroll and Russ Beyer of Carroll; a sister Victoria Smith (Matt) of Johnston; a sister-in-law Mary Kivler (Butch) of Pennsylvania; two brothers-in-law Harry Renaud (Gladys) of Berwick, PA, and Gary Renaud (Debra) of Wapwallopen, PA; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Rick was preceded in death by his father Paul Beyer; his step-mother Kathryn Beyer; his step-father Bill Olsen; and two sisters-in-law Marie Beyer and Lois Beyer.
