Rheta was born in Lake City, Calhoun County, IA, on July 18, 1937. She spent her young years in Churdan until her family moved to Lohrville, and then Glidden, eventually moving back to Churdan where she graduated from High School. As a young girl she went to Raccoon River Bible camp and there she asked Jesus to come into her heart which was the foundation for the rest of her life. Her faith was important to her and influenced the way she lived.

Rheta worked as a dental assistant in Jefferson and then in Carroll after her marriage. Rheta was married to Dwight Fiscus on April 21, 1957, and was a stay-at-home mom until her children were raised. She got her Real Estate license and then sold real estate in the Carroll area. She eventually retired after 10 plus years from the Carroll Public Library where she was promoted to the Assistant Librarian. She was involved with the Carroll High School Band Booster Club and Carroll Band Days. She loved knitting, reading, traveling, and she especially loved her grandkids and having them stay overnight. She loved playing bridge with her bridge club and camping with her family. Upon Retirement 2004 they moved to Arizona.

Rheta was preceded in death by her Spouse (8/12/21) Dwight Merle Fiscus after 65 years of marriage; her mother Beulah Elizabeth (Flack) Brody and her father Wayne Wesley Brody; and her nephew Marc Kauffman.
