Regina Ludwig died April 6, 2017 at the age of 102 at St Anthony Nursing Home in Carroll. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, April 10, 2017 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll with Fr. Timothy Johnson as Celebrant. Music for the Mass will be by the Holy Spirit Choir with Barb McDermott as organist. Lector for the Mass will be Chris Ludwig. Gift bearers will be Regina’s grandchildren. Eucharistic Minister will be Ann Rossigno. Casket bearers will be Regina’s grandchildren. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery in Arcadia. Visitation will be held at Holy Spirit Church for one hour prior to the Mass. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll. She was born Feb. 25, 1915 at Arcadia, IA, the daughter of Conrad & Lena (Bergman) Huelshorst. She attended St. John School in Arcadia. Regina and Ray Ludwig were married on Oct. 8, 1940. They spent their early years in Glidden and Arcadia where Regina was a member of the St John Christian Mothers. In 1962 they moved to Pine River, MN, where they owned and operated a fishing resort, Dream of the North Woods, until Ray’s death on June 4, 1972. Regina returned to Arcadia to care for her father and later retired in Carroll where she joined the Holy Spirit Parish family. She enjoyed playing cards and visiting with friends at Orchardview. She also made rosaries & until her 101st birthday, sewed quilts with material from the RSVP, crocheted, completed picture puzzles and crossword puzzles. St. Anthony Nursing Home became her home after a fall in April, 2016. Regina is survived by her children: Dale (Patty), Keokuk, IA, Neil (Jean),Carroll, Jim (Annette), Shelby Township, MI, and Diane Jennings, Arlington, TN, her 12 grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, 11 ½ great grandchildren, sister-in-law, Elaine Huelshorst, Carroll, and nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a sister, Theresa Berns, Brothers: Eugene, Francis & Vincent, a sister, Angela, at birth, son-in law, Charles Jennings, and a grandson, James Ludwig.
