         Raymond O. Snook, age 77, of Glidden passed away on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.      Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. Saturday, May 12, 2018 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll with Fr. Kevin Richter as Celebrant.  Lector for the Mass will be Frank Comito.  Music will be by the Holy Spirit Celebration Choir.  Eucharistic Ministers will be Alex Boyce, Judy Mayer, and Cheryl Brandt.  Gift Bearers will be Grace Tigges, Claire Tigges, Conner Tigges, Grant Tigges, Nolan Roberts, Harper Roberts, and Elle Mundt.  Casket Bearers will be Doug Lamaak, Loren Boyce, Aaron Boyce, John Tigges, Brian Tigges, and Nathan Tigges.  Honorary casket bearers will be Doug Bass, Diane Raymond, Robert Woodhouse, Greg Sieman, The Honorable Ronald Schechtman, Victor Warnke, Kenny Pedersen, Ron Mayer, Dennis Snyder, David Bruner, and Barry Bruner.  The Carroll Bar Association will form an honor guard at the church.  Burial will be in the Merle Hay Memorial Cemetery near Glidden with military honors by the Glidden American Legion.      Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden after 5:00 P.M. on Friday where there will be a Christian Wake Service held at 7:00 P.M.  The casket will be moved to Holy Spirit Church at 9:30 A.M. on Saturday where visitation will resume until the time of Mass.   Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden and online condolences may be left for Ray’s family at www.dahnandwoodhouse.com     Born on November 29, 1940 in Carroll, IA, he was the son of Elmer and Theresa (Daiker) Snook.  He grew up in Carroll and graduated from Carroll High School in 1958.  Ray enlisted in the United States Navy at age 17 and served four years stationed in Guam and aboard the Aircraft Carrier U.S.S. Yorktown as a 3rd Class Petty Officer Airman and Aircraft Mechanic.  Following his discharge from the Navy, he returned to Carroll and worked for International Harvester as a tractor mechanic.  Ray received his Bachelor Degree in History with a minor in Pre-Law in 1969 from Sacramento State University.  Ray attended Drake Law School where he earned his Doctor of Law degree in 1972.  He began practicing law in Carroll with Art Neu for two years before starting his practice in Glidden where he practiced for 44 years.  Ray also served as the city attorney for Glidden, Lanesboro, Lidderdale, and Ralston.  He was a magistrate judge for Carroll County for ten years.     Ray was married to Paulette (Schlichter) Tigges on May 18, 1996 in Carroll.   He was a member of the Iowa Bar Association and the Glidden American Legion.  Ray was an avid slow pitch softball player, he enjoyed bird watching, growing roses, woodworking, writing poetry, watching the Wheel of Fortune, completing crossword puzzles, and sports cars.  Ray loved children and Halloween, handing out treats to over 300 kids each year.             Ray is survived by his wife Paulette Snook of 22 years of Glidden; two sisters: Marlene Main of Auburn, CA, and Sarah Schettler of Carroll; Paulette’s children: John Tigges (Stacie) of Waukee and their children Grace and Claire, Brian Tigges (Holly) of Carroll and their children Kaitlyn Riesselman (Michael) and great-grandchildren Ryker and Dawson, Bryce Perrien, and Conner and Grant Tigges, Beth Roberts (Andy) of Des Moines and their children Nolan, Harper, and Tess, and Nathan Tigges (Patty) of Des Moines and their children: Brandon Mundt (Tanna), Elle Mundt, Stella Tigges, and Luke Tigges; three sisters-in-law: Cheryl Brandt (Wayne) of Austin, MN, Jeanne Motl of Blooming Prairie, MN, and Diana Enfield of Rochester, MN; two brothers-in-law: Edward and Joe Schlichter of Austin, MN; and many nieces and nephews.      Ray was preceded in death by his parents Elmer and Theresa Snook; a son Jason Bruning; two sisters: Marion Lamaak and Dorothy Snook; a brother Marvin Snook; and three brothers-in-law: Freddie Lamaak, Tom Main, and Darrell Schettler.
